Teens Struck by Car in Amherst Identified

AMHERST, NY - Amherst Police have released the names of the two teens hit by a Jeep on Maple Road early Saturday night.

Erin Suszynski and Briana Francois are both 13 and both from Amherst. Briana is in critical condition at ECMC and Erin is in critical condition at Women and Children's Hospital.

Police worked well into Saturday night as they investigated the accident.

According to Amherst Police, three girls crossed the westbound lanes of Maple Road near Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and stopped in the median. Two of the girls then attempted to cross the eastbound lanes when they were struck by a Jeep.

The accident happened around 7:25 p.m. 

The two girls go to Mill Middle School in Williamsville. On Sunday, 2 On Your Side talked to Susan Carpenter of Williamsville about the accident. Carpenter called the accident heartbreaking.
